"I am so proud of my accomplishments, and so grateful for this tool for weight loss."
Surgery Date: 12/19/2024
Total Weight Lost: 166 lbs
"I was facing some health issues including high blood pressure, joint pain, and back pain. I got sick of being in pain and refused to go on blood pressure meds at 35 years old. So I decided to make a drastic change."
"Since surgery, I have stepped out of my comfort zone. My husband and I have gone on several trips that we wouldn't have been able to participate in before surgery. I've hiked the mountains in Tennessee, going on roller coasters at Dollywood that I wouldn't have fit on in the past, hiked the desert and climbed a rock wall in Arizona, and walked literal miles around Chicago."
"If I didn’t do this I don’t think I would be alive today."
Surgery Date: 10.13.2020
Total Weight Lost: 205 lbs
“When I started trying to lose weight I ended up gaining another 100 lbs and struggled until I started here with Dr. Gluck”
“I’m 4 years out and I’ve been able to maintain a healthy weight while knowing that I have a food addiction. I’ve been able to keep up with everyone around me my age and younger, which I could never do before. I decided to start racing the same year I ended up having surgery. Both kept me going when I wanted to give up. Like many others, the last few years have been hard. Losing an entire person’s body weight changes a lot. You leave the old ways behind, slowly building a new character from the ground up. I finally for the first time in my life took care of me and what I needed.”
“I didn’t fit in a lot of places very easily. I also had a hard time finding clothes that I looked nice in. So being able to dress in clothes that are an M-L now instead of 3XL or bigger. I like to look good it helps me feel good about myself.”
“I tell everyone I can about the choice I made to do it. So many people hear horror stories and I want people to know it’s possible to have good outcomes. If I didn’t do this I don’t think I would be alive today.”

"It is a journey - Every step is necessary - it is teaching your brain, it's the fundamental things that are necessary"
Elia had bariatric surgery in 2023 and has lost 19 lbs!
"I did this for my health". Elia had gained most of her weight after having her 2 children. "I was waking up at night in pain, I had bought every kind of diet program, supplements, medications, and nothing was working". "I tried restrictive diets for months at a time and would only lose 1 pound".
Elia finally met with Dr. Gluck and decided it was time to have bariatric surgery. Since having surgery, Elia has been able to do anything she wants! "I can do anything! I can walk for more than 5 minutes, I can breathe, I can go to the gym - I love going to the gym! Mixed martial arts!"
"I started exercising as soon as possible! I started with light exercises and built up! I do this for me, I go even when I do not have the motivation because I know that I if I stop I will get off track". "I will go even if it is for 5 minutes".
"You need to focus - it is a challenge for you. Nobody understands this process- only you"
Elia also met with Dr. Ter Louw at Muskegon Surgical Associates this year and had an abdominoplasty! "My insurance covered the procedure based on specific criteria - check with your insurance!". "He was great!"
Advice from Elia:
"You do everything the way they ask, it will work out"
"I thanked Dr. Gluck today as we had our first meeting since surgery day. And I found it odd that he gracefully didn’t take much credit. He said…"You’re the one that’s put in the hard work… I was only there for an hour of it...""
“I had my 1-year post-op gastric bypass appointment and I am officially down 106 lbs! At this appointment, they give you your picture that was taken a couple of days before surgery. This puts a lot into perspective.
I’m not fishing for compliments, but truly appreciate them. I remember being miserable and excited at that last appointment before surgery. I remember praying it would work. I remember being very thankful to have this opportunity, and that hasn’t changed.
This tool, I believe, has saved my life in many ways. I was forced to stop drinking pop. My 8-9 cans of Diet Pepsi daily are no more. I still have not had one sip! And don’t plan to! I can walk farther. I can wear shorts again this summer. I fit more comfortably in many seats. I am a little more confident.

"I still pray this works for the long haul. That I don’t fall into bad habits again. That I don’t become a statistic of regaining. I know all of that is possible because I still struggle every day. I still love my peanut M&M’s and chips so I have to work harder on making better choices.
If you’re ever thinking about doing this surgery, don’t be afraid to ask me questions! You know I’m an open book!!
Thanks to all of you who have loved me through this journey and who have cheered me on. It’s very much appreciated!”

"I am so grateful to Dr. Gluck and his team for helping me find myself again!"
"I had my gastric sleeve surgery on May 23, 2023. Since having surgery I have lost 154 lbs. I made this life changing choice, because I did not feel like myself anymore. Since surgery I have been able to run and play soccer with my family without being in pain or out of breath. I have had the best support at home, from my friends and family, which has made this experience that much better. For the first time in a long time I am looking forward to summer with my family, I cannot wait to go to Michigan's adventure with them and to be able to ride roller coasters again!"

"60-year-old patient who is 2 years out after her sleeve and she is KILLING IT!! Since surgery, she has journaled her exercise and tracked her steps every day. She shared her journal and it was so cool to see how her exercise has increased over the past 2 years. She also showed me her food journal in which she records EVERYTHING she eats - in her case, it is lean proteins and veggies and fruits most days.
Journaling takes discipline, but it raises your attention to your choices and the journey. The best part of this visit yesterday was that this patient HAS LOST 200 POUNDS and is at a BMI of 25! WOW"
